Hello, we are Matt and Melanie!

Welcome to Peak K-9! I am so glad you have found us. My name is Melanie and together with my husband Matt we run Peak K-9! We are located in Drake in a cute log cabin with our 8 dogs, various foster dogs, 2 horses, chickens/ducks, and 1 brave cat. Our whole life revolves around dogs and we cannot wait to welcome yours in the family!

My training experience started in 2012 when I first started volunteering with Guide Dogs for the Blind as a puppy raiser. Here I was introduced to the joy of training dogs by helping people gain a forever best friend and partner. After raising puppies for 5 years, I began working under my mentor where I would further my experience and knowledge of dog behavior. I lead a drop off socialization and training program for dogs from 8 weeks old - 7+ years old for 2 years. This allowed me to work with a large variety of clients, dogs, and training goals as I continued to learn how to best communicate with dogs and help them be the best version of themselves. I am a Certified Trainer and Behavior Consultant through the Starmark Academy of Dog Trainers as well as an Evaluator for CGC through the AKC.

Matt gained his experience through working for a mentor for 2 years until he began his own business in PA. He ran his business for 3 years before also attending Starmark Academy for Dog Trainers, and then moved to Colorado where we have worked together ever since!

Our goal and passion lies with bringing out the very best of your dog through trust, relationship, play, and fun! We believe every great training journey starts with your relationship with your pup and we strive to bring out the best parts of your pup’s personality and your relationship in order to help your training journey be as incredible as possible.

I am so excited to get to know you and your family more! Having a dog is one of the greatest joys, and I am excited to work with you to continue building that relationship together!
